Site specific light work Amsterdam UMC

Site-specific light work
In commission for the Amsterdam UMC Hospital (location AMC) I realised a site-specific light work.
It’s a slowly breathing and changing work for a moment of contemplation for the visitors and patients.
Reacting on its surrounding.
Size: 240 x 330 cm.

Amsterdam UMC has a large and well-known art collection. The versatile collection can touch you; comforts or provides distraction.
Special art commissions have been awarded for the redevelopment of the nursing wards in the F and G towers. They not only provide beauty in the building but are also a point of recognition on every floor.
In addition to the work of Popel Coumou, the artwork Flowerfields by Elspeth Diederix can be seen at F4 in the patient lounge.

An ever-changing environment. This is the hospital for patients, visitors, and employees. Artist Popel Coumou has responded to this in a clever way. With her light artwork that slowly changes, she shows what space means in a busy location. In the artwork you can see the tranquil version of this hectic environment. A moment of rest on a busy day, or something beautiful to look at while waiting for the lift.
